Not a wine expert. Not a vineyard pro. Just an aspiring wine maker with big dreams. Backyard Winery was founded in 2010 by Jason Miller. The goal was to create custom small batches of wine for our personal cellar and explore growing grapes. I believe it is quality, not quantity. With that in mind, I set out on a search to learn about wine making, what makes good wine, and really understand what went into that bottle of wine we were drinking over dinner. My primary focus and focus of Backyard Winery is wine created in the United States by smaller vineyards and aspiring wine makers making wine at home. Backyard Winery will be an on-line resource where topics on wine can be discussed.

Our three goals of this website are:

1. Provide interactive wine forums

2. Provide vineyard discussion

3. Share my private reserve from my very own small batch wine making

This website will eventually morph into my actual business concept, part of Weekend Oasis Vacation Rentals, and turn into an actual vineyard in Virginia, Bed and Breakfast, and vacation rentals. I have to start somewhere and as the business grows we want you to be part of it!
